Scarily Cute

Don't you just live this Frankie that Roxy AKA Corinne Somerville shared how to KReate.

I was supposed to be prepping with Sally Williams today for the Creative Inkers Christmas Extravaganza which we are both involved with next Saturday but I was naughty & distracted us with cute projects to make!! I'm going to whip up a few of these for my work colleagues who have small children for Halloween.

No stamps were involved in the making of this project but needs the stinkingly cute Petite Purse Bigz die. The green is Gumball Green; one of our new in-colours which is such a happy green.

Well I'm not sure if my Frankie is scarey enough, I may need to work on his mouth but he is cute - so thanks Roxy - awesome project!!!

If you're not doing anything next Saturday we still have a few empty seats for our Team Extravaganza which you can reserve for $45 & I promise you we have FIVE very cute projects to share with you then. CONTACT ME ASAP if you would like to attend.

Location: Western Springs, Auckland
Time and date: Saturday 3rd November 1-5pm
Cost: $45 FIVE projects in 4 hours plus we provide all the materials to make the projects, afternoon tea plus you go in the draw to win one of our fabulous spot prizes. $10 discount on the day if you place an order for over $50.

Brayering, salt & snow

WOW this card sort of evolved from what I had originally planned but I'm really happy with it. I'm doing techniques starting with B tomorrow night so one of them is Brayering - I've seen Delys Cram one of the demos in my team create stars in the sky using rock salt but it actually is quite chunky so I thought to myself wonder what happens if you use just plain table salt & even if I say so myself it's perfect!

The steps to recreate the card:
I masked the bottom of the my smallest whisper white piece with a large post-it note (double sized one) to create the snow.

Then sprinkled table salt on the unmasked whisper white & ran it through my big shot between 2 plates on Tab 2.  Brush off the salt (lots of throwing across my shoulder just in case it really is bad luck).

I brayered first with Baja Breeze ink & then Not Quite Navy.

Sponged lightly around the mask with Baja Breeze to make the first snow drift & then stamp the tall tree from Lovely As A Tree in Not Quite Navy (the bottom of the tree is stamped on the post it note mask).

Move the mask & change the angle slightly - sponge very lightly with Baja Breeze. Stamp a few more trees.

Move the mask, again changing angle etc & sponge lightly with Baja Breeze.

Using a 2-way glue pen trace the contours of the snowdrifts. Sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

I've also stamped a star from the Snow Swirled stamp set in the top RH corner with our Illuminate pad (luminescent watermark pad - again a great idea from Delys).

I've matted the first whisper white piece up on another mat (5mm bigger) to make it pop.

The message comes from More Merry Messages & has just been stamped with Not Quite Navy on the Baja Breeze base card.

Well I hope the ladies coming to card class tomorrow enjoy the card I certainly did making it.

Shabby chic thank you card this time

This is a lovely card my upline Jacque Pedersen taught at a class I attended recently which I adore.

Stamp sets: From My Heart, Etruscan Elegance (wheel)

We've also spritzed the card with alcohol, water, ink, champagne frost shimmer paint & it has a wee sparkle in real lfe.

Shabby chic Christmas card

I've cased the Holiday mini (page 6) for this one but could not get the tulle to gather even with Sticky Strip so I'm thinking you need a sewing machine & a gathering thread (or a needle & thread) even so I think it's very pretty.

I've used multipurpose adhesive sheet (p 160 in the AC) to make my Champagne glimmer paper stick & I've used the Finishing Touches Edgelit for my border. I have lightly sanded my embossed piece of Early Espresso core'dination card stock

Stamp a stacked out

of get up & go. Been awhile since I posted but was so busy prepping last week for my team's Christmas Stamp-a-stack. We were all overwhelmed with the response - so much so we all ran out of various card stocks. For myself personally it was the equivalent of cutting 172 kits with >800 pieces cut - it was a big job.

My next big team event I'm involved with is the Creative Inkers Christmas Extravaganza November 3rd Western Springs 1-5 pm. $45 for 5 projects - this time a bit more complex. I know Sally & myself are teaching a twisted greeting card/gift card holder. Do contact me if you'd like more details or to book a seat.

Anyhow I thought I'd share the 3 designs Sally, Debbie & myself taught at our Stamp a Stack. Everyone got to create 12 cards for $25 which I think was pretty phenomenal value. A big thanks to all that attended & made it a fun afternoon.

Debbie's card using Greeting Cards Kids & her name is linked to her blog post:

Sally's card using the Holiday Frame textured embossing folder that everyone adores:

And my card I've also blogged using Watercolour Winter:

I'll set up a few posts for the long weekend - I hope everyone has a safe & relaxing one - my Pete is taking me away for some R+R . Take care.

Who has the most dazzlingest tree of them all??

No not Snow White but Doug (Pete's dad) who celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday & I hate masculine with a passion - my only brief from Pete was I needed GOLD on the card as such a big no.

I had Pete worried when I just had the pretty piece of acetate which was dazzling & bright but he loved the finished tree I used as an embellishment. So a special thanks to Charmaine Black from Australia who shared her dazzling lights technique.

Stamp sets: Lovely as a Tree, Linen (background - retired)
Ink: Stazon Black, Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede, Summer Starfruit
Paper: Soft Suede, Lucky Limeade, Champagne Glitter paper
Other: Window sheets, microfine glitters including Dazzling Diamonds, Crystal Effects, tinfoil, dimensionals, craft & rubber scissors, Timeless type alphabet dies (retired) & gold tafetta ribbon (retired)
Technique: Dazzling lights

Thank you Charmaine the video is great, for those attempting it for the first time I'd say add a few more "pinches" of glitter, I think I was too stingy & do use your brayer if you own one, so the aluminum foil does stick to the acetate using the Crystal Effects. Look at my tree at "3 o'clock" - it all fall out as not stuck down properly at that spot.

Well I really enjoyed playing with this technique & sure you would too - so have a go!

A Beautiful Season acetate card

I blogged a few days ago HERE about watercolouring using Naturals Ivory but this is the comparison using watercolor paper - which to me was "easier" to colour in with my aquapainter & gave much more depth to the colour. This is also one of the cards from my home class last week when we were playing with acetate - which is so damn hard to photograph but looks so pretty in the flesh.

Stamp sets: Beautiful Season, Watercolor Winter
Ink: Stazon Black & Stazon White
Paper: Watercolor, brushed gold & acetate (windowsheets - SU! acetate really is like a window so glossy), Festival of Prints DSP, Cherry Cobbler - inners
Other: Cherry Cobbler Scalloped tulle ribbon (love it for tying), Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Rich Regals & Earth Elements watercolour crayons, aqua-painter, Crystal Effects - to make the centre vein glossy, Labels Collection framelits, SNAIL adhesive

What we learnt SNAIL is very adhesive to the acetate & for myself when you add the "inners" lay the piece on the rear sheet first so it all lines up - see below :)

Well I hope that is "clear" for all to understand - until the next time - happy stampin'
