More ink smooshing

Yah more ink smooshing with Jenn Shurkus. Every time we do smooshingshe shows us a different technique. This stamp Mermaid & Whale (Anita Jeram) from Colorado Craft Company is a big background with a lot of detail. I have white embossed it on Distress Watercolor paper, I have also stamped with black ink on Neenah #80 and then fussy cut out the mermaid and Copic coloured her up and added glitter with Prisma glitter and Distress Rock Candy. I'd like to have a go using a more no-line ink rather than black for my next attempt but she is rather fabulous and doesn't the background just pop.

Life is Better at the Beach

This was another fab class where we watercoloured stamped images and die cut pieces to make a sandcastle using our Distress Inks. The sand castle bits were die cut out of Distress Watercolor paper.

I've never done anything like this before and it certainly was an eye opener as to how fun, fab and fast it all was to put together. The Sand Castle Builder dies are from Honey Bee Stamps. I think they maybe from a year ago as I bought a pair of flip flop dies at that time and the stamped images come from a set Flippin' Fabulous and are sized to work perfectly with the sand castle. We received in our kit the sand castle dies plus the stamped and die-cut sentiments and shells. Glitter has been added with Matte Collage medium from Ranger and then Distress Rock Candy sprinkled on and left to dry for an hour or so. 

We've used Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso ink I'm going to have a go with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. I also forgot to add a piece of textured cardstock behind the door but I actually think it looks rather cool looking at my ink blended ocean.

It's that stencil AGAIN

Starting to get a bit grungy on my Virtual Art Retreat and for this card we made a brown background with "that stencil" and also made veggies good enough to eat! 

When my box arrived and I saw the bag of die-cut "realistic" veggies I was thinking what the heck, that's so not me, at that time I had no idea what was planned for them as the handout for the Retreat was not available online to see.

Well blow me down we have used brown ink to make the prettiest soil ever, Copic coloured up the fab veggies from Keep It Fresh (HA) to make them shine. We have also used the Quatrefoil stencil (NN) again and the exclusive Creative Journey stamp we received from Tim Holtz/Stamper's Anonymous as well.

This background was created by lightly blending our first Distress ink all over the smooth side of a piece of Ranger Distress Watercolour paper. We then stenciled down the bottom of the card with a darker brown ink but in a way to not leave a line. Using the same darker ink we hand-stamped the scripty word down the RHS and along the bottom and when I say hand-stamped we are tapping the ink pad to the red rubber stamp and then stamping holding the stamp in our HANDS. We then spritzed to give drops. Let dry or heat set. When dry remove 1/8" from all sides - Jenn likes to clean up the edges and leave a wee border which we have used a Distresser tool on.
