Just Add Ink 726: be inspired

It's time for another fun challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we have an inspirational mood board to inspire you.

What do you see when you look at the mood board? I saw terracotta/apricot and sage greens plus the wee ginger kitten stole my heart. So I have ended up working with different greens than I normally would, which was actually quite a lot of fun. I'm sure I'm not the only person who gets stuck in the same rut and would normally work with bright yellow-greens to craft with. I've also added a wee kitty as well - one ginger and a wee grey tabby one, representing my fur baby Cinder.

I started by lightly blending some Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide ink in the top left hand corner. I then used a Leafy Background stencil (PFS), which is a set of 3 stencils to add Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough and Lucky Clover. 

I have Copic coloured up Newton's Blooms (NN) and tried to only colour with Apricot/Terracotta/Sage green tones.

Time to go to the beach...

Just not in New Zealand at the moment, we seem to have a polar blast hitting us at the moment but it was lovely to colour along and play with beachy things and think of Summer.

AAA Cards has a beachy inspiration board for their current challenge which looks amazing and the water looks so warm (sniff). I have been inspired by the red bucket with yellow and green accessories lower LHS to finally colour up my beach girl from At the Beach  stamp from CTMH. This is a fab stamp set but their stamps are a bit on the big size to me. I guess so they can make ephemera for scrapbook pages but when your best friend is a CTMH consultant sometimes you just have to support them and buy really cool stamps and dies.

My card has a lot of stuff, hopefully it's clean and simple enough but I have wanted to colour the girl in her sarong up for ages, so I sea-zed this opportunity to do so.

My background panel was created through a Watercolor Wash stencil from MFT. I used Gina K masking magic to make the mid-way border. The sea is all distress oxides: Cracked Pistachio, Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers. Spritzed with water, wait a few minutes, blot off. Then I made a wee wash with the Peacock Feathers ink and splattered with a no. 4 paintbrush. When dryish, time to blend in the sand with Antique Linen distress oxide and then splattered with Tea Dye distress ink wash.

I did all my blending on Lavinia Multifarious Smooth and Supreme paper it's great for blending and is WHITE and quite a heavy weight. I then used the deckled rectangle in the Mix and Match Frames from Altenew.

I stamped the girl from At the Beach using Memento Tuxedo Black to XPress IT blending card stock and coloured in with my Copics. Colours listed below (darkest >>lightest).

Green: G09/05/02/00

Yellow: Y08/06/02/00

I have stamped the sentiment from another CTMH set Voice of the Sea and the wee shells are from Lawn Fawn On the Beach using Gathered Twigs ink from Pinkfresh Studios. 

Anyhow this is a fun challenge as either it is summer where you live or you're like me wishing it was ;)

Inspired by Grace

The latest Lawn Fawnatics Challenge is to create a card inspired by one of the design team OR anyone's card. What a fab challenge as if I'm honest the whole of the  Lawn Fawn DT are inspirational and it was  hard to pick one card by a DT member but I seem to be needing "happy retirement" cards lately and I thought this lovely card by Grace Camou would make a fab retirement card. Her card was also featured on the Lawn Fawn blog for the spring release freebie stamp set "Furever Friends" which was FREE with purchases over $60. You can see that post HERE.

I used the cats from the set to sit on the log from Wood You Be Mine as that was a no-brainer for this cat lover but the wee mice are also adorable but not as adorable as cats. 

I have made a standard A2 sized card and created my sunset using Watercolor Wishes 6 x 6" DSP. I stamped my cats onto some Xpress IT blending card stock with Memento Tuxedo black ink and then masked them up. I created a mask using Gina K masking paper which I had stamped on and fussy cut out.  I then stamped the log so the cats were sitting on top of the log. 

I wasn't that happy with my first log placement (the left cat's bum was in the air!), so that became my practice piece and can now go into my Copic blend notebook .

After colouring up the cats and the log I then fussy cut then out. For my background I sponged my "hill" of Kraft card stock with Tea Dye distress ink and splattered a bit on too plus a tad of watered down white acrylic paint to make my sandy beach. Everything else I think is pretty obvious looking at the card.

And here is Grace's fabulous shadow box card using Furever Friends I hope I have done an all right job casing her. Relooking at her card now I love the shadow she has on the log from the mice and must try that next time.
