Whimsical Greetings with Jenn Shurkus

This is the last class I completed in FULL last weekend. Again this was a 90 minute main class with a bit of prep to do for Lawn Fawn.

Jenn was a fabulous tutor, she had an easy video showing us our homework and our instructions in our booklet were detailed with lots and lots of pictures to follow along with.

When I saw what Lawn Fawn was providing for our class kit I was blown away with their generosity. The list of goodies were:
  • Sunny Squirrels stamps and lawn cuts (i.e. dies)
  • Sunflower Greetings lawn cuts
  • 6 sheets of 6x6" DSP

My cards are a lot cuter and more colourful in real life. I really have no idea why they don't photograph more vibrantly when I snap them. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and Jenn's style of teaching, so much so I saw she was doing an Ugly and Bright Christmas class later this month so I signed up for it too as I just had to buy that set from Lawn Fawn (reindeers etc wearing ugly Christmas jumpers). She's also doing a FREE class with that set plus many others so you should check out her website HERE.

Anyhow here is her upcoming calendar of events in a "nutshell".

My cards I created from #cropandcreatedelivered

All the wee images were bulk coloured using Copic markers, so again another fab and fun class at SCTCCD.

Falling for You with Taylor & SCTCCD

At my recent SCTCCD event one of the main classes (3 cards in 90 mins) was Taylor Vanbruggen from Taylored Expressions. The event was a "fall event" as it's fall in the States etc. and to be honest I don't actually make fall cards but the triple slim line stencil TE gave us was fab and it was so fun to see the layers come alive!!! We actually blended and our final panel was then cut down to make 3 mini slimline cards - very cool clever idea. I know TE do something similar with quad stencils (i.e. the final panel gives you 4 cards).

The mini slimline card that TE had us creating were 7"x 6" so we finished up with a 3½" x 6" card which can fit in an A2 envelope.

Now our main swag for this class kit was layering stencils which let's be honest aren't very exciting photographed. We also got some mini leaf dies and a wee cute stamp set to actually stamp the veins whilst the cardstock had the stencil on top, so sometimes you were stamping on the card and some of the stamp was also on the stencil. So very realistic.

So the kit included:
  • Happy Harvest clear stamp
  • Falling for you triple slimline stencil (FOUR layers) and clear stamp combo
  • Fall Flurry die
  • TE Mulled Wine cardstock
  • TE Sweet Potato cardstock
  • TE Kraft cardstock
  • mini slim envelopes

This is the sneak peek of our class projects; stenciled and coloured by Taylor. She used Mulled Wine (burgundy), Sweet Potato (dark orange), Dijon (mustard), Mocha (dark brown) and Toffee (kraft brown) inks from Taylored Expressions for her blending. I used my SU! inks Merry Merlot, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake. We also splattered in places with gold Gansi Tambi watercolour.

These stamps and stencils and co-ordinating products were released on class day, so if this looks like something you would like to have a go at check them out HERE. If you also check out the TE blog you can see some summery/spring colour combos too.

BEST TIP from the class: When blending with blender brushes blend in both directions; clockwise and anticlockwise circles.

Here are my cards:

I changed the orientation of the card below from Taylor's example and some details have been added with a white gel pen.

Dimension is Life

I can hear Laura Bassen aka Laura Fadora singing it in my head. She was the instructor for our Hero Arts 90 minute class at SCTCCD and I do not know why I only got one card done on the day, I think it was too early in the morning for me and I needed more coffee and I actually paused the class on my tablet to make the 2nd cup of the day but I was gone too long so when I returned the tablet had turned off so it was now live and half way though card 3, so decided I would complete the other 2 classes at a later date.

Again our kit was fab, below is what I received in my Hero Arts class kit:
  • Yah Birthday bundle (stamps and matching dies)
  • Party Confetti stencil
  • Birthday Hero Hues enamel dots

Each die cut word has 2 plain white die cuts under it. I have used Pinkfresh Studio inks to stamp with; colours used from the top Bubblegum, Clementine, Sweet Mustard, Aquamarine, Blue Jay.

But any fun rainbow colours would work awesomely with this card. The HA enamel dots added a nice pop of colour too.
